Louisiana Music Map

The Louisiana Music Map is a visual tribute to the music and musicians of Louisiana, arguably the most important state in the development of American music. The latest edition of the map features more than 50 additional musicians to the previous impressive list of Louisiana performers.

The beautifully illustrated print, which was designed to look like a vintage map and measures 24” x 30”, features the birthplaces of more than 1700 native Louisiana musicians who performed in a style of music indigenous to Louisiana, such as jazz, blues, Cajun, Creole, zydeco, swamp pop and gospel. The map also includes nearly 50 musicians who made notable contributions to Louisiana music but were born elsewhere, such as Greenwood, Mississippi native Guitar Slim and Houston’s Katie Webster.

The Louisiana Music Map also features 14 illustrated portraits which each represents a highly influential artist of a specific style of Louisiana music or region, such as D.L. Menard for Cajun music, Louis Armstrong for jazz, Slim Harpo for swamp blues or Clifton Chenier for zydeco.

Southwest Louisiana Music Map

The Southwest Louisiana Music Map is a tribute to the music and musicians of the region of the Bayou State which produced some of America’s most joyous and heartfelt music – Cajun, Creole, zydeco, and swamp pop. This latest edition of the map features more than 100 additional musicians to the previous impressive list of Louisiana performers.

The map features the birthplaces of more than 900 native musicians hailing from the Atchafalaya Basin to just beyond Lake Charles. It also features illustrated portraits of 20 highly influential musicians who made a major impact on the music such as Amédé Ardoin, Joe Falcon, Cléoma Breaux Falcon, Iry LeJeune, Clifton Chenier, and Nathan Abshire.

Texas Music Map

The Texas Music Map celebrates the music and musicians of the Lone Star State, one of the most important regions in the development of American music.

The illustrated map measures 24″ x 30″ and features the birthplaces of more than 1000 native Texas musicians who performed its traditional and influential music: blues, jazz, country, western swing, cowboy ballads, conjunto, orquesta, Tejano, folk, rock ‘n roll, rockabilly, and gospel. It also includes Cajun, Creole, and swamp pop musicians from southeast Texas, many of those whose families had relocated from southwestern Louisiana.

The Texas Music Map also features several dozen illustrated portraits which represent highly influential artists from a particular town, city, or region who had a profound impact on the music and other musicians such as Lightnin’ Hopkins, George Jones, Buddy Holly, Townes Van Zandt, and Lydia Mendoza.
